Glory of the Guru
To lead a good life, it is imperative for man to have a genuine Guru who will show him the right path and establish him in good stead. This Guru-Sishya parampara has been an established practice from time immeorial. It is unmistably clear from the Puranas that every king in the land was guided by a preceptor in governing his kingdom. Generally, a man cannot on his own decide if all his actions are right. Only the Guru can be the arbiter. But on his part, the Guru should not have any kind of attachment, likes or dislikes. His only objective should be to make people lead a happy life by showing them the right path. Because of this noble objective, his decisions do not go wrong. The disciple, on his part, should have complete devotion and faith in his Guru. The Guru may test the disciple, but it should not be the other way around. Guru with infinite affection for the disciple and the disciple with unwavering faith in the Guru symbolise an ideal relationship. May everyone lead his life with devotion to the Guru and follow his advice! May all live in harmony acting in accordance with what Bhagavatpada Sankara said: "Attaining limitless devotion to the Guns lotus feet, quickly liberate yourself from the ocean of Samsara."
