At the chosen good muhoortam, the siva acharya should dress appropriately for the occasion and make sure that the invited brahmanas are fed first. Then perform the punyahavachanam or purification ceremony. The ground should be portioned into nine parts and starting with Brahmasthanam, sacrificial offerings should be made to the nava (nine)sandhis by someone trained and knowledgeable in Vaastu sastra.
Declaring that the yajamana is taking posession of this land and requesting all the bhootas, pisachas and rakshasa ganas (evil spirits) to leave voluntarily and offer them bali of rice with yogurt and ghee. This should be foliwed by vedic chanting and good music. Then the yajamana should honor the Sivaacharya and other invitees with gifts.
